5th Strategic Security Dialogue Between EU and Georgia Held in Tbilisi

On January 25, the EU and Georgia had their fifth high-level Strategic Security Dialogue in Tbilisi. The participants reaffirmed their commitment to advancing collaboration in all areas, including foreign and security policy.
Participants in the discussion examined the fallout from the war between Russia and Georgia in August 2008. They urged the Russian Federation to completely abide by the cease-fire agreement, which the EU brokered on August 12. Also, the significance of the Geneva International Discussions and the need to guarantee the full fulfillment of the EU Monitoring Mission Mandate by Georgia and the EU were emphasized.
The parties also spoke on the need to improve connectivity, particularly around the Black Sea, and security concerns in the South Caucasus and the surrounding area, especially Russia's war in Ukraine.
The European Union applauded Georgia's participation as a crucial CSDP partner. According to the EU and Georgian MFA, the parties expressed their willingness to continue advancing their security cooperation in line with the priorities outlined in the EU Strategic Compass, addressing hybrid threats and boosting Georgia's capabilities and resilience, among other things, through the European Peace Facility.
