
Aliyev and Erdoğan Strengthen Energy and Defense Ties in Ankara

On June 10, Ilham Aliyev, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, arrived in Ankara for a working visit at the invitation of Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the President of the Republic of Türkiye. Aliyev and Erdoğan met at Ankara Esenboğa Airport.
In Ankara, Ilham Aliyev held a one-on-one meeting with Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The heads of state praised the successful development of brotherly, friendly, and allied relations between Azerbaijan and Türkiye across all areas.
During the meeting, the Presidents discussed expanding energy, transportation, economic, and trade relations between the two countries and cooperating in defense, the military industry, and other fields. They highlighted the enhancement of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway's capabilities and emphasized the importance of joint activities concerning the development of the Middle Corridor.
Additionally, the significance of further developing cooperation within the Organization of Turkic States and among brotherly countries was reiterated, emphasizing the importance of the upcoming informal summit in Shusha. President Erdoğan confirmed his participation in the informal Shusha Summit and conveyed his congratulations on the upcoming COP29, to be hosted in Azerbaijan.
President Ilham Aliyev once again invited the Turkish President to COP29, an invitation which President Erdoğan gladly accepted.
