
Ararat Mirzoyan Receives EU Monitoring Capacity

On November 4, Ararat Mirzoyan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, received Marek Szczygieł, the Head of the EU Monitoring Capacity in Armenia, and the members of his delegation, the Press Office of the Armenian Foreign Ministry reported.
"During the meeting, Minister Mirzoyan briefed upon the security situation in the region following Azerbaijan's aggression against Armenia's territorial integrity and sovereignty on September 13-14; the positions of the Armenian side regarding the normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict," the report added.
The Foreign Minister of Armenia highlighted the importance of deploying the EU civilian mission in Armenia and expressed confidence that it will contribute to stability and peace in the region.
Marek Szczygieł expressed gratitude to the Armenian side for supporting the EU civilian mission and presented the scope of their activities and upcoming work in Armenia.
As previously reported by Caucasus Watch, Karen Sargsyan, the region governor, stated that the delegation of the EU technical assessment mission visited the border settlements in the Vardenis region of the Gegharkunik region, most affected by the escalation on the border with Azerbaijan last month. The delegation was accompanied by Colonel Vahram Grigoryan, the head of the eastern region of the republic, the commander of the 2nd Army Corps of the Armenian Armed Forces, and Aharon Khachatryan, the head of the Vardenis community.
