Armen Grigoryan: "Armenia Discusses Withdrawal from CSTO"

In an interview with Novaya Gazeta on May 13, Armenian Security Council Secretary Armen Grigoryan said that Armenia could not buy the weapons it ordered and paid for from Russia.
Armen Grigoryan responded to the journalist's remark about Armenia constantly changing its political course by saying that in recent years, there have been sharp changes in the security architecture in the world, especially in the region. "Contract obligations are not fulfilled. Our whole security concept is based on this, but there is nothing new yet. This is a crisis," he said.
Armen Grigoryan's answer to the question of what to do in such a situation was as follows: "We should look for new mechanisms and weapons supplies because objectively, we are not getting what we ordered and paid for from Russia." The Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia emphasized that there are several such agreements.
He also recalled that during the border conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia in September last year, there were expectations that the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) would take action in Armenia. "It did not work," Grigoryan added. The Secretary of the Security Council admitted that discussions are underway in Armenia to withdraw from the CSTO. "This is a natural reaction," he emphasized.
