Armenia and Iran Discuss Tax Privileges for Bilateral Cargo Transport

Armenia and Iran are currently engaged in discussions aimed at simplifying bilateral cargo transportation. These talks focus on establishing privileges for cargo transport between the two countries, including exemptions from road and environmental taxes under interstate agreements.
During a Standing Committee on Economic Affairs session in the National Assembly, Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Armen Simonyan highlighted efforts to address the fiscal aspects of cargo transportation with Iran. He noted that Iran also imposes road taxes for cargo vehicles, determined by the Tax Code based on vehicle mass, when Armenian vehicles cross its border.
The proposed amendments aim to introduce tax privileges for cargo transport, with the Armenian government setting specific conditions, including the country of origin, type, and quantity of cargo vehicles. This regulation seeks to facilitate establishing or revising road tax privileges on a reciprocal basis with Iran.
The National Assembly website reports that the amendments to the RA Tax Code were discussed in the first reading and received a positive conclusion.
