
Armenia and Iran Strengthen Ties Amid Regional Challenges and Peace Talks

On January 20, Vahan Kostanyan, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, met with several high-ranking officials in Tehran, including Kamal Kharrazi, Foreign Policy Advisor to Iran's Supreme Leader and Head of the Iran Strategic Council on Foreign Relations, Majid Takht-Ravanchi, Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs, and Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran.
During the meeting with Kamal Kharrazi, both sides commended the strong bilateral relations between Armenia and Iran and emphasized efforts to deepen their cooperation. The importance of Iran's consistent stance on respecting Armenia's territorial integrity and border inviolability was underlined. Kostanyan briefed Kharrazi on Armenia's foreign policy agenda and regional developments, emphasizing the significance of relations with regional partners, particularly Iran, within Armenia's balanced foreign policy framework.
In discussions with Majid Takht-Ravanchi, the high level of political dialogue and cooperation between the two countries was highlighted. Both sides emphasized mutual respect for each other's foreign policy priorities and underscored the need to foster relations built on mutual trust. Kostanyan appreciated Iran's principled position on Armenia's territorial integrity and shared updates on the Armenia-Azerbaijan normalization process, reaffirming Armenia's commitment to a peace agenda. The counterparts discussed deepening economic cooperation and ongoing projects.
Kostanyan's meeting with Seyyed Abbas Araghchi focused on current political issues of mutual interest, further reinforcing the importance of the Armenia-Iran partnership in addressing regional and international challenges.
