
Armenia and World Bank Forge Ahead with Development Initiatives

On March 4, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan met with Antonella Bassani, the Vice President of the Europe and Central Asia Region at the World Bank, to discuss various aspects of cooperation between Armenia and the organization.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Pashinyan commended the fruitful collaboration between the Armenian government and the World Bank across several sectors, highlighting the successful implementation of reforms in Armenia. He emphasized the significance of joint projects focused on infrastructure development, energy, transport, and education, underlining the need for continued progress.
Antonella Bassani reciprocated the sentiment, expressing satisfaction with the ongoing cooperation between the World Bank and the Armenian government. She mentioned that developing a partnership strategy with Armenia is nearing completion, considering the country's priorities.
Both parties expressed contentment with the outcomes of an educational pilot program conducted in the Tavush region, expressing hopes for its expansion to other regions.
The discussion also touched upon further collaboration in the aforementioned areas and humanitarian concerns regarding individuals forcibly displaced from Nagorno Karabakh. The Armenian government's "Crossroads of Peace" project was deliberated upon, along with its underlying principles. The participants stressed the importance of unblocking regional infrastructures while upholding principles of sovereignty, jurisdiction, equality, and reciprocity, foreseeing enhanced trade and economic relations as a result.
