Armenia, Azerbaijan Conclude Tavush and Gazakh Border Demarcation

During a conversation with journalists on May 21, Armenian National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan stated that the process of demarcating the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan in the Tavush region and Gazakh district has been completed.
"The whole world and different countries welcomed this process. We have completed the process of demarcation of this part (of the border) between Armenia and Azerbaijan, created a point of support, established some principles that will be used in the future to reproduce (between the republics administrative) border (that existed in the times of the USSR)," Simonyan noted.
He emphasized that Yerevan and Baku have used a 'clear map' as a basis for the delimitation and subsequent demarcation of the border, which has a legal basis approved by both sides. "The border of the Republic of Armenia is the border that made the Republic of Armenia independent. Here we return to the Alma-Ata Declaration (1991), which states that the Republic of Armenia and the other signatory republics, including Azerbaijan, become independent with their own administrative borders," Simonyan explained.
Simonyan summarized, "With this, we laid the foundations and got the principles acceptable bilaterally, and based on these principles, we carried out demarcation, which is a good example and was accepted by all countries of the world."
