Armenia Denies Reports of Territorial Concessions Near Berdavan

| News, Security, Armenia

Armenian authorities have denied reports that four or five Armenian military positions near the village of Berdavan in Tavush Province were transferred to Azerbaijani control as part of the ongoing Armenia-Azerbaijan border delimitation process.

The Armenian Defence Ministry the claim as “yet another fabrication”, while the office of Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan, who heads Armenia’s border delimitation commission, said reports of territorial or positional concessions by Armenia did not correspond to reality. The head of the Noyemberyan community, where Berdavan is located, also denied the reports.

The allegation had on social media for several days before the official denials. Open Caucasus Media reported on September 29 that it could not establish the original source of the claim. The reports were shared by several Facebook accounts without providing supporting documentation or identifying an initial source.

There is currently no publicly available evidence confirming that Armenian positions near Berdavan have been transferred to Azerbaijan. The Armenian authorities’ statements address the reports directly but do not provide further details about whether any recent changes have taken place in the area for reasons unrelated to territorial delimitation.
