Armenia-India-Iran Trilateral Consultations Focus on Regional Connectivity, Chabahar Port, and Multilateral Cooperation

On December 12, the second round of Armenia-India-Iran Trilateral Consultations took place in New Delhi. The discussions were led by Shri J.P. Singh, Joint Secretary of India’s PAI Division; Anahit Karapetyan, Head of the Asia-Pacific Department at Armenia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and Hashem Ashja’ Zadeh, Director General of the South Asia Division at Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Building on the outcomes of the first consultations held in Yerevan in April 2023, the delegations addressed a range of topics, including connectivity initiatives, regional developments, and cooperation in multilateral forums. They also explored opportunities to expand trade, tourism, cultural exchanges, and people-to-people contacts.
The participants underscored the importance of close collaboration under the framework of the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC) and highlighted the strategic significance of Chabahar Port in enhancing regional connectivity. Armenia presented its “The Crossroads of Peace” initiative as part of its broader efforts to strengthen regional linkages.
The three countries reaffirmed their commitment to ongoing collaboration within this trilateral format and agreed to hold the next round of consultations in Iran at a mutually convenient date.
