Armenian Dairy Producers Face Uncertainty as Russia Keeps Its Import Ban

Commenting on the ban on the export of dairy products from Armenia to the Russian market, which comes into force on April 5, Anush Harutyunyan, the Representative of the Food Safety Inspectorate, said that the Armenian side is doing everything possible to resume the export of dairy products to Russia as soon as possible.
"Negotiations with the Russian side are ongoing and are aimed at ensuring that the issue is resolved as soon as possible," the interlocutor of the publication informed. When asked if Armenian producers could continue using ingredients from Iran, which, as previously indicated by the Rosselkhoznadzor, became the reason for the restrictive measure taken by the Russian department, Harutyunyan replied that this issue would be clarified.
"Questions arose only with several Iranian suppliers and not with all," the official explained.
As previously reported by Caucasus Watch, on March 29, the Food Safety Inspectorate of Armenia responded to the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance of Russia, stating that no violations were found in dairy products exported to the Russian market.
