Armenian Diplomat Resigns Over Foreign Policy Clashes with Pashinyan

On February 29, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received the resignation of Edmond Marukyan, his Ambassador-at-Large.
"Amidst the challenges faced by our state and region, I assumed my responsibilities with utmost dedication. However, recent disagreements regarding several fundamental foreign policy matters have rendered my continued involvement in foreign affairs unfeasible," Marukyan stated.
In an evening announcement through social media, Marukyan revealed that he had formally requested Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to relieve him of his duties as Armenia's Ambassador-at-Large. "I embarked upon this mission with profound responsibility and commitment during a challenging period for our state and region. Nonetheless, recent disparities in our perspectives on several fundamental foreign policy matters preclude my further involvement in foreign affairs," Marukyan emphasized.
Marukyan affirmed his ongoing commitment to serving the Armenian people and safeguarding the national and state interests of the Republic of Armenia.
The resigned diplomat refrained from specifying the exact differences on several principal foreign policy issues he alluded to.
