On April 10, the Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan met with Nilakshi Saha Sinha, the newly appointed Ambassador of India to Armenia. The purpose of the meeting was to formally hand over a copy of Ambassador Saha Sinha’s credentials as she assumes her diplomatic duties in Armenia, the Armenian Foreign Ministry reported.
During their meeting, Foreign Minister Mirzoyan and Ambassador Saha Sinha discussed the potential for further development of the multi-layered relations between Armenia and India. They exchanged views on how to implement the ambitious bilateral agenda effectively. This entails taking joint steps towards maximizing the potential in various areas of cooperation, including trade, economic, and business ties, as well as collaboration in the scientific and educational sectors.
Both sides expressed satisfaction with the increasing dynamics in the political dialogue between the two countries, which high-level visits and active cooperation in international forums have facilitated.
The discussion also touched upon regional and international security concerns. Minister Mirzoyan shared Armenia’s perspective on the relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. He expressed appreciation for India’s stance on these matters.
Foreign Minister Mirzoyan highlighted the humanitarian challenges in Nagorno Karabakh resulting from Azerbaijan's illegal blockade of the Lachin Corridor. He emphasized the imperative of implementing the ruling by the International Court of Justice on February 22, which calls for eliminating the blockade without any preconditions. He also pointed out the need to prevent Baku's actions that may lead to the ethnic cleansing of the Armenians in Nagorno Karabakh.
