Azerbaijan Hosts US Trade Mission on Middle Corridor
On September 8, Jeyhun Bayramov, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, received representatives of the Certified US Trade Mission on the Middle Corridor during their visit to the country. During the meeting, the participants highlighted the historical significance of the discussions held in Washington on August 8, which included the Presidents of Azerbaijan and the United States, as well as the Prime Minister of Armenia, and referred to the documents signed at those talks. Bayramov emphasized that the agreements reached not only contributed to regional peace and progress but also created new opportunities for Azerbaijan-US relations. The importance of ensuring unhindered connectivity between Azerbaijan’s western regions and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic was underlined.
Bayramov noted Azerbaijan’s decades-long efforts to develop the Middle Corridor through concrete projects such as the Baku–Tbilisi–Kars railway, the Baku International Sea Trade Port, and the Alat Free Economic Zone. He also emphasized the country’s strategic partnerships with states east of the Caspian Sea within the Middle Corridor, as well as with the friendly and brotherly nations of Central Asia. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Azerbaijan’s long-standing role in Europe’s energy security was also discussed. It was stressed that "the number of countries receiving Azerbaijani natural gas has reached 14." Attention was given to Azerbaijan’s active cooperation with partner countries in developing and transmitting renewable energy resources to Europe, with particular focus on projects such as the submarine power cable across the Black Sea.
