Azerbaijan Offers Humanitarian Support and Future Partnership with Syria

On December 10, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan issued a statement regarding the developments in Syria.
The statement emphasized that Azerbaijan is monitoring the situation closely and consulting with Türkiye. It underscored the necessity of restoring peace and stability in Syria and ending the civil confrontation following the collapse of the Bashar al-Assad regime.
Azerbaijan reiterated its support for Syria's territorial integrity and sovereignty, expressing hope that the issues would be resolved in accordance with the will of the Syrian people through domestic political dialogue. The ministry also highlighted Azerbaijan's readiness, along with Türkiye and other partners, to contribute to addressing the humanitarian challenges faced by the Syrian population.
Despite the absence of an Azerbaijani embassy in Syria, efforts are ongoing to identify and locate Azerbaijani citizens there. The statement noted that since 2020, Azerbaijan has been repatriating its citizens from Syria via Türkiye and will continue this process.
Azerbaijan expressed optimism that once stability returns to Syria, bilateral relations between the two countries will be restored, and cooperation will be strengthened based on mutual friendship and partnership.
