Azerbaijan Proposes Peace Agreement to Armenia, Turkey Supports: Foreign Ministers Discuss Regional Stability
According to an APA report, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, at a joint press conference with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, stressed that Azerbaijan and Turkey's post-conflict stance is based on international norms and principles. The resolution of the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict, particularly Armenia's signing of the Azerbaijan-proposed peace agreement, which prioritises the sovereignty and inviolability of borders on mutual terms, is deemed of significant importance.
Bayramov voiced concerns about Armenia's non-fulfilment of obligations, including the withdrawal of their armed formations, the hindrance in opening the Zangezur corridor, interference in Azerbaijan's internal affairs under the pretext of protecting the rights of Armenians residing in Karabakh, and the obstruction to the reintegration of Karabakh inhabitants of Armenian origins into Azerbaijan. These issues pose serious threats to peace within the region, he added.
Meanwhile, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan defended Azerbaijan in light of recent events involving the Lachin corridor. He debunked the “unjust accusations” directed towards Azerbaijan, stating, "Medical transit is ensured, and humanitarian aid is being provided. The Lachin corridor is Azerbaijani land, and Azerbaijan can take any action in Lachin."
