Azerbaijani Embassy in Afghanistan to Resume Its Work in 2024

Azerbaijan's embassy will resume its work in Kabul in 2024.
According to Samed Seyidov, the Chairman of the Committee on International Relations and Interparliamentary Relations of the Azerbaijani Parliament and the head of Azerbaijan's delegation to PACE, Azerbaijan is opening its embassies not only in Kabul but also in several countries, such as Uganda, Thailand. He explained that this is due to the increased political activity of the country, not only in the western but also in the eastern and southern directions.
Notably, according to a decree signed by President Ilham Aliyev, Ilham Mammadov was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Azerbaijan to Afghanistan back in July 2021, but then, in August, after the withdrawal of US troops and the flight of the government of Ashraf Ghani, diplomatic relations were suspended.
