
Azerbaijani Shots Fired at Syunik Airport, Armenia Reports

On August 18, the National Security Service of Armenia reported that at 04:24 [local time] from the Azerbaijani side, an unknown person, who arrived in a yet unidentified vehicle at the territory adjacent to the Syunik airport in Kapan of the Armenian Syunik province on the Armenia-Azerbaijan border, fired three shots from the territory of Azerbaijan in the direction of the Syunik airport in Kapan, after which he left.
"Two bullets damaged one of the windows and the airport's roof. We call on the Azerbaijani authorities to conduct a proper investigation on the incident and take measures to exclude the recurrence of such incidents," the report added.
Notably, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan arrived at this airport on the Yerevan-Kapan flight a day before. On August 19, there will be an opening ceremony of the Yerevan-Gafan flight. From next week, a regular flight between Yerevan and Kapan will be held.
