Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly in New York on September 22.

The meeting covered Azerbaijan-Iran bilateral and multilateral relations as well as developments in the region. The ministers stressed the importance of regular high-level engagement, mutual respect, and good-neighbourly relations.

The two sides highlighted the August 2026 meeting between Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian in Bishkek, which they described as an important step towards expanding bilateral cooperation. Regional security also featured on the agenda, with the ministers emphasizing the role of diplomacy and dialogue in promoting peace and stability.
