Belarus and Azerbaijan Sign Key Cooperation Deals in Baku to Strengthen Bilateral Ties

On May 5, Aleksandr Turchin, the Prime Minister of Belarus, arrived in Azerbaijan for an official visit, where he was welcomed at Heydar Aliyev International Airport by Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister Samir Sharifov, Deputy Foreign Minister Elnur Mammadov, and other officials, according to Report.
On the same day, a one-on-one meeting took place in Baku between Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov and his Belarusian counterpart, Aleksandr Turchin, followed by a session in an expanded format. During the discussions, both sides reviewed key issues of bilateral cooperation, reaffirming their intentions to strengthen ties across multiple sectors. Asadov emphasized that relations between Azerbaijan and Belarus, guided by the presidents of both countries, were comprehensive and developing dynamically.
Following the talks, several cooperation agreements were signed. Among them was a 2025–2027 action plan for cooperation in veterinary medicine between Azerbaijan’s Food Safety Agency and the Belarusian Ministry of Agriculture and Food. The document was signed by Goshgar Tahmazli, Chairman of the Food Safety Agency of Azerbaijan, and Alexander Lomski, First Deputy Minister of Belarus.
Additionally, a memorandum on developing cooperation in the supply of tractor equipment was signed by Khanlar Fatiyev, Head of the Supervisory Board of the Ganja Automobile Plant, and Sergey Avramenko, General Director of the Minsk Tractor Plant. A separate agreement was concluded between the Ganja Automobile Plant and the Minsk Automobile Plant for the supply of utility vehicle kits.
Multiple agreements were also reached at the Azerbaijan-Belarus Business Forum held in Baku. These included a memorandum between the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange and Azerbaijan’s Small and Medium Business Development Agency; three product supply agreements between Belarusian firms “Mostovdrev” and “Sosna”; a supply contract between “Kamvol” and Azerbaijan’s “Smart Style”; a product delivery agreement between “Spartak” and AZNUR; and cooperation deals between “Minsk Dairy Plant No. 1” and both AZNUR and “Araz Supermarket.” Additionally, a letter of intent was signed between “Mark Formelle” and “N-Qrup.”
At the forum, brokerage certificates were presented, with LLC “SAMA-ZT” announced as the first commodity exchange broker in Azerbaijan, officially representing Azerbaijani businesses in Belarusian exchange trading.
Marina Belousova, Branch Director of Beltamozhservice, disclosed at the event that Belarus is exploring logistics cooperation with Azerbaijan for delivering Belarusian products to Iran, Kuwait, and the UAE. She noted that since February 2025, Beltamozhservice has participated in a pilot project transporting Belarusian goods via Russian ports to distant markets by sea. Belousova highlighted that wood processing, cellulose, and food products are the main goods exported, and Azerbaijan’s role is considered vital in expanding these logistics routes.
