Belarus and Separatist Abkhazia to Develop Cooperation Between Military and Special Services

On February 28, Aslan Bzhania, the de-facto President of separatist Abkhazia, announced that Belarus and Abkhazia would actively develop contacts between their defense ministries and special services.
During the meeting, Bzhania spoke about his recent visit to Minsk and meeting with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, who had previously visited Abkhazia in September 2022. "During the Minsk meeting, we agreed to implement a major joint project in the Ochamchira district of Abkhazia, work on which will begin no later than April 2024," he said.
The de-facto head of Abkhazia stressed that Minsk has always pursued a friendly policy towards Sokhumi and recalled that Belarus did not join the blockade of Abkhazia by the CIS countries after the events of 1992-1993. He also said that during his visit to Minsk, agreements were reached on expanding contacts in the economic sphere and between defense departments and special services. In this regard, Bzhania called on the meeting participants to pay attention to the Belarusian experience in the field of public administration and put this experience to good use.
