
Canada Joins EU Monitoring Mission in Armenia

In the decision of the Political and Security Committee of the Council of the European Union dated July 18, it was reported that the Political and Security Committee of the Council of the European Union approved Canada's proposal to contribute to the EU Monitoring Mission in Armenia.
The Political and Security Committee of the Council of the European Union considers Canada's contribution important. "Canada is exempt from financial contributions to the EUMA budget," the ruling said. The information said that the decision comes into force from the day of its adoption.
Notably, on January 23, the Council of the European Union approved the establishment of the European Union Civilian Mission in Armenia within the Common Security and Defense Policy framework. The duration of the mission will be two years. According to the European Union, the purpose of the mission is to contribute to stability in the border areas of Armenia, to confidence building in the region, and to provide a favorable environment for normalization efforts between Armenia and Azerbaijan supported by the European Union.
