
China Eager to Explore Georgian Market, Says Deputy Speaker Chikovani

On January 19, Irakli Chikovani, the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, expressed gratitude for the executive and legislative authorities' collaborative efforts between China and Georgia. He highlighted the significant potential in this partnership and emphasized China's readiness to participate in developing the "Middle Corridor" alongside Georgia. Reflecting on his visit to the People's Republic of China, Chikovani underscored that discussions went beyond bilateral relations to encompass broader issues requiring the involvement of other nations.
Describing the visit as productive, Chikovani conveyed insights from exchanges on the current cooperation situation in China and Georgia. He said, "Both the executive and legislative authorities of China value the existing cooperation with Georgia and see the great, important potential that this cooperation has." Addressing the need for China's active participation in Georgia's efforts to harness the potential of the "Middle Corridor," Chikovani noted China's preparedness for collaborative initiatives.
Chikovani also touched upon the keen interest expressed by Chinese private and business circles in Georgian products. He emphasized, "Not only the government but also the private sector should be active here, as this is a huge market that needs to get acquainted with Georgian products." The official shared insights from meetings where Chinese officials expressed their readiness to increase the quantity of products imported from Georgia and expand the range of imported goods.
Highlighting China's positive perception of Georgia's significant economic growth, Chikovani stressed the potential for addressing various issues between the two states to further enhance prosperity for the Georgian population. He emphasized, "Against this background, there will be many issues between the two states that will bring even more prosperity to the population of Georgia and further develop our cooperation."
Lastly, Chikovani underscored that the discussions went beyond bilateral relations, encompassing issues where the involvement of other states is necessary. He said, "China strategically sees the prospects of this cooperation and the role of Georgia and is ready to work together on all of this in the future."
