
CSTO Concerned About Situation Along Armenia-Azerbaijan Border and Offers to Send Mission

At an expanded meeting of the leadership of the Secretariat and the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Joint Staff on March 31, Imangali Tasmagambetov stated that the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border and in Nagorno-Karabakh is fraught with serious destabilization.
According to the administrative head of the organization, the risks associated with the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh and on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border are still relevant. Tasmagambetov called the current tension in the Caucasus region the result of years of contradictions. He stressed that the CSTO constantly works to improve the mechanism for countering existing and emerging challenges and threats.
On the same day, Yuri Shuvalov, the Representative of the Secretariat of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, said about the constant readiness of the CSTO to send a mission to the Armenian-Azerbaijani border in the interest of ensuring the security of Armenia.
"As for the Caucasus region of collective security, the organization is in constant readiness to send a CSTO mission to the Armenian-Azerbaijani border to ensure the security of Armenia," Shuvalov added. The representative added that the CSTO is ready to provide other measures of assistance to the ally in the South Caucasus.
