CSTO Secretary General Responds to Armenia's Disengagement Concerns

On March 28, CSTO Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov addressed the issue of Armenia's recent disengagement from CSTO activities. Tasmagambetov clarified that the CSTO Secretariat has not received any official statements from Armenia regarding the suspension of its membership.
He acknowledged Armenia's decision not to participate in CSTO activities at this stage and emphasized that, as an international organization, the CSTO respects the sovereign decisions of its member states. Despite Armenia's absence from CSTO proceedings, Tasmagambetov affirmed that the organization continues its operations in full compliance with CSTO regulations.
Tasmagambetov highlighted that the CSTO Secretariat maintains communication with relevant structures in Yerevan, ensuring that decisions and adopted procedures are conveyed to Armenian authorities. He stressed the adherence of the CSTO to established norms and procedures, with a thorough analysis of the situation surrounding Armenia's relationship with the organization.
Expressing concern over certain developments and sentiments among Armenian elites, Tasmagambetov emphasized the hope for political prudence from Armenian leadership and a balanced assessment of future scenarios regarding the organization. He reaffirmed that Armenia remains an ally within the CSTO, with all existing commitments remaining intact.
