Finland Reportedly To Lead Discussions On Closing OSCE Minsk Process
On August 14, the Azerbaijani government-supervised Report News Agency stated that Finland, as the current Chair of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), will lead discussions with participating states to address a joint appeal by Azerbaijan and Armenia to close the OSCE Minsk process and its related structures.
In its statement, the OSCE welcomed the August 8 agreements signed in Washington DC, congratulating Armenia and Azerbaijan on the development and commending the US Administration for its role in facilitating it. The organization confirmed that on August 11, it had received a joint appeal from the two countries proposing a Ministerial Council Decision to formally end the OSCE Minsk Process. The 2025 Chair-in-Office, Finland, will lead the discussions, while the OSCE Secretariat is ready to implement any relevant outcomes.
