French Foreign Minister: France's Unrivaled Assistance for Armenia's Path to Peace

Answering the question of the French MEP about what kind of assistance Paris provided to Yerevan on June 13, Foreign Minister of the Fifth Republic Catherine Colonna said that no country is making as much effort to achieve a just peace for Armenia as France.
"We stand by Armenia to achieve a just peace with its neighbor [Azerbaijan]. No country provides two countries such support in this matter as we do. We are with Armenia to achieve a just peace, as evidenced by the efforts made by the President [Emmanuel Macron]," the head of French diplomacy said.
In this context, she recalled the five-sided meeting earlier this month in Moldova, where the President of France also took part. The column also recalled the scheduled meeting in Brussels on July 21 between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, mediated by the President of the Council of the European Union Charles Michel, noting the active participation of partners from the United States, with whom France is in close coordination.
"We also support Armenia when it comes to reducing tensions on the ground [in the region.] Let me remind you that in April, I personally went [to the South Caucasus] to help the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan reach a peace agreement," the minister said.
As a tool to reduce tensions, the Colonna pointed to the EU monitoring mission operating in Armenia, which, according to it, was largely created by France's efforts, which is very conducive to de-escalation.
