
Garibashvili and Michel Discuss Progress on Georgia's Path to EU Candidacy

On December 1, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili met with Charles Michel, the President of the European Council, the Press Office of the Georgian government reported.
At the meeting held in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, the parties discussed Georgia's European integration and reform agenda. Focus was made on the positive recommendation of the European Commission to grant the candidate status to Georgia.
The Prime Minister briefed the President of the European Council on Georgia's reforms implemented toward European integration. Irakli Garibashvili said, "Georgia continues the successfully launched process of implementing the EU's recommendations. The government has a concrete vision of each reform, the relevant action plan and timeframes have been developed, and the government is engaged in this process in coordination with EU representatives."
According to the Head of Government, the European Commission has confirmed Georgia's progress. "Now, the country is anticipating the European Council's positive decision on granting the candidate status," he added.
Irakli Garibashvili thanked Charles Michel for his assistance and support in implementing the EU's recommendations and emphasized the importance of support from the President of the European Council on the path to European integration.
