
Georgian Foreign Minister Visits Türkiye for Official Talks

On February 15, Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili embarked on an official visit to Türkiye. During his visit, Darchiashvili engaged in a bilateral meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.
The discussions between the two foreign ministers encompassed various critical aspects of the strategic partnership shared between Georgia and Türkiye. These included collaboration in trade, economics, energy, transport, strategic regional initiatives, as well as cultural and humanitarian endeavors. Both ministers acknowledged the positive trajectory of bilateral trade and economic relations.
Of particular emphasis was the advancement of strategic transit and energy ventures. They explored the transit potential facilitated by Georgia, Azerbaijan, and Türkiye, underscoring the significance of projects like the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway and the middle corridor.
The meeting underscored the importance of high-level visits and the Georgia-Türkiye Strategic Cooperation Council. Additionally, they addressed ongoing regional security challenges, with Türkiye reaffirming its unwavering support for Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity. Both sides stressed the necessity of sustainable regional development and the roles of Georgia and Türkiye in fostering peace within the region.
The conversation extended to the successful tripartite cooperation between Georgia, Türkiye, and Azerbaijan. It was announced that a tripartite ministerial meeting of foreign ministers from these nations would take place in March.
Furthermore, discussions covered current international affairs and explored opportunities for enhanced collaboration within international organizations.
