Georgian Parliament Speaker: "Georgia Cannot Risk Imposing Sanctions on Russia"

On November 12, Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili said that Georgia cannot risk imposing sanctions on Russia.
"We cannot afford to risk the lives of our citizens and the country's economic situation. No country, including any member of the European Union, will do that. They always compare the consequences of sanctions when deciding on sanctions," Papuashvili said.
He also reminded that not being a NATO member, Georgia has done the most for international security. "We are a country which, unlike the countries imposing sanctions, is not protected by NATO's nuclear umbrella. They are protected, no one protects us. No country on earth gives us security guarantees. In terms of security, we depend only on ourselves," Papuashvili stated.
According to the Speaker of the Parliament, unlike most of the countries that joined the sanctions against Russia, Georgia is also not covered by the EU economic solidarity umbrella.
