Georgian Prime Minister’s Visit to Turkmenistan Focuses on Transport, Energy, and Connectivity
On March 6, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze began his official visit to Turkmenistan, where he met with President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to discuss bilateral cooperation in transport, energy, and regional connectivity.
During their face-to-face meeting, the two leaders highlighted the positive dynamics of political and economic relations between Georgia and Turkmenistan. They underscored the importance of enhancing regional connectivity and the development of the Middle Corridor, with Kobakhidze outlining Georgia's transport and logistics projects aimed at strengthening its role as a key transit hub.
The discussions also focused on future collaboration in the transport and energy sectors. Kobakhidze acknowledged Turkmenistan's efforts to ensure stability in Central Asia and reaffirmed Georgia’s commitment to its peace policy. He also expressed gratitude for Turkmenistan’s continued support of Georgia's territorial integrity and sovereignty within its internationally recognized borders.
Both leaders agreed that the signing of agreements between sectoral agencies during the visit would further deepen bilateral cooperation. Kobakhidze extended an invitation to President Berdimuhamedov to pay an official visit to Georgia.
The meeting concluded with President Berdimuhamedov hosting Prime Minister Kobakhidze at the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan.
