Ingushetia Spends EUR 2 Million Due to Russo-Ukrainian War

The Press Service of the Ingushetia government, with reference to the regional Ministry of Finance, reported that the costs of Ingushetia related to the Russo-Ukrainian War in 2022 reached EUR 2 million. These are the costs of material assistance to the families of military personnel, including the dead, wounded, and mobilized, as well as the provision of the military.
At the same time, according to the Constitution of Russia, all military issues are under the exclusive jurisdiction of the federal center and, therefore, must be financed from the federal budget.
Importantly, the mentioned amount is almost a quarter of the deficit of the annual budget of Ingushetia, revised in November last year.
As previously reported by Caucasus Watch, on November 23, the UK imposed sanctions on 22 high-ranking Russian officials for their involvement in the forced mobilization and encouragement of mercenaries. Sanctions have also been extended to ten heads of Russian regions, of which five relate to the South of Russia and the North Caucasus. These are Mahmud-Ali Kalimatov (Ingushetia), Sergey Melikov (Dagestan), Batu Khasikov (Kalmykia), Vasily Golubev (Rostov Region), and Veniamin Kondratiev (Krasnodar Territory).
