Iranian Ambassador: Armenia Key to Efficient Black Sea Route

“Iran’s ambassador to Armenia, Mehdi Sobhani, pointed out that the segment of the North-South transport corridor passing through Armenia offers a more efficient route to the Black Sea. After casting his vote in Iran's presidential election runoff at the Iranian Embassy in Yerevan, Sobhani praised Armenia’s significant investment in infrastructure, particularly highlighting the ongoing construction on the Agarak-Kajaran road.
He mentioned that preparations for the construction of the Kajaran tunnel are underway, which will streamline truck traffic. Sobhani emphasized that these regional roads will complement rather than replace each other and noted that this route to the Black Sea will cut travel time by two days.
During a discussion with reporters at the Iranian embassy in Armenia, Sobhani added: “We believe that regional problems should be resolved within the region.”
“If any tense situation or conflict arises in the region, its impact and consequences will primarily affect the people living in the region. Therefore, when we refer to the '3+3 format,' it encompasses the regional countries and those nations experiencing conflicts with each other. Our objective is to achieve lasting peace within a comprehensive framework. This should encompass not only political aspects but also economic issues, trade relations, and facilitating mutual visits among the peoples residing in the region,” he emphasized.
