Iranian Ambassador to Armenia: "Iran and Armenia Will Not Allow Creation of Any Corridor"

At a conference dedicated to bilateral relations on February 9, Abbas Badakhshan Zohouri, the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic in Yerevan, stated that Iran and Armenia will not allow the creation of any corridor between them.
"Iran and Armenia have been and will be neighbors," the diplomat stressed. "Of course, you can notice some tricks; they talk about some so-called corridors, about some actions. However, Iran and Armenia will not allow the establishment of such a corridor," the diplomatic mission's head stated.
The Iranian Ambassador also pointed out that the two countries need to be proactive to benefit regional security. "We should not wait for someone to come up with the idea of creating, for example, a corridor and then decide what position to take. We must not allow this," Zohouri said.
He called the opening of an Iranian consulate in the town of Kapan in the Syunik region of Armenia and the forthcoming opening of an Armenian consulate in Iranian Tabriz the right decision.
