Islamic Jihad Movement in Palestine Denounces Azerbaijan Amid Strengthening Relations With Israel

On January 15, the Islamic Jihad Movement in Palestine strongly denounced the thawing of ties between the Republic of Azerbaijan and Israel.
"The formation of connections by any Islamic country with the Zionist adversary is regarded as a betrayal of the Palestinian struggle, which is considered the foremost cause of Arabs and Muslims," the organization stated. "Normalization with the hostile Zionist enemy [Israel] is a betrayal of the Palestinian people and an encouragement to the occupation, which persists in its crimes and aggression against Jerusalem/al-Quds and the rest of the occupied lands," the organization continued. The movement reaffirmed its appeal to all Arab and Islamic peoples to reject normalization and to resist any efforts made to infiltrate our Arab and Islamic world under the guise of deceptive normalization.
Notably, the Islamic Jihad Movement in Palestine, known in the West simply as Palestinian Islamic Jihad, is a Palestinian Islamist paramilitary and terrorist organization formed in 1981. PIJ began as an offshoot of the Muslim Brotherhood and was influenced ideologically in its formation by the Islamic regime in Iran.
