Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan Strengthen Ties, Emphasize Importance of Trans-Caspian International Transport Route

Following a meeting in Astana between Alibek Kuantyrov, the head of the Ministry of National Economy of Kazakhstan, and Agalar Atamoglanov, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Kazakhstan, on October 27, the ministry reported that Kazakhstan is ready to increase the supply of non-resource goods to Azerbaijan by $300 million.
"The parties discussed issues of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries. The volume of bilateral trade turnover at the end of 2022 amounted to about $500 million. In the future, this figure may be increased to $1 billion. In addition, the Minister confirmed the interest of Kazakhstan in the export of domestic processed products to Azerbaijan. This is more than 100 non-resource commodity items worth about $300 million," the report added. The interlocutors noted the favorable location of both countries on important transport corridors.
In turn, Ambassador Atamoglanov said that Azerbaijan is ready to increase the supply of agricultural products to Kazakhstan.
"In this regard, the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TMTM), connecting China and the European Union through Central Asia, the Caucasus and Turkey, is becoming increasingly relevant. Within the framework of the TITM, cargo transshipment has more than doubled. During the conversation, it was noted the positive dynamics of transportation of Kazakh oil through this route," the information noted.
