Kobakhidze Applauds Tulsi Gabbard For Revealing US "Deep State" Plot

| News, Politics, Georgia

On July 21, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze stated that accusations of Russian interference in the US elections against President Donald Trump were proven to be fabricated by Tulsi Gabbard, the US National Intelligence Director. He claimed that Gabbard presented factual evidence pointing to former President Barack Obama as the initiator of the scheme. Kobakhidze emphasized that Gabbard exposed the so-called "deep state," which, according to her, orchestrated a campaign to discredit Trump through the full engagement of state structures. He noted that President Trump publicly thanked Gabbard and sent the relevant materials to the US Department of Justice for follow-up.

Kobakhidze argued that this issue is being actively discussed in American media and that labeling political opponents as "pro-Russian" is a common tactic used by the "deep state" globally. He claimed this is done especially through media outlets under what he described as "almost complete, total control and censorship" in Europe, which allows for the creation of any desired public image for politicians. He pointed to French opposition leader Marine Le Pen, who he said was branded as pro-Russian without evidence after her ratings rose, and to Georgescu, the winner of the first round of Romania’s presidential elections, who was excluded from the political process after unproven accusations of Russian interference, leading to the annulment of the election results. He stated that Moldova’s opposition forces were similarly suppressed through court decisions based on unsubstantiated claims.

Kobakhidze further referenced the Hungarian government, which he said has long resisted the propaganda of the "deep state" and has faced similar accusations solely because Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s administration promotes national interests, rejects pseudo-liberal ideologies, and maintains a pro-peace stance. He asserted that since the Georgian Dream party came to power, Georgia has been the target of a comparable discrediting campaign carried out by the "deep state" in coordination with the radical opposition, NGOs, and external actors, including members of the European bureaucracy.

According to him, the government's refusal to follow foreign directives, its defense of national sovereignty, rejection of LGBT propaganda, and its stance against involvement in war have led to baseless accusations of "pro-Russianness." He underscored that the ruling party’s founder, Bidzina Ivanishvili, has been repeatedly accused of ties to Russia, yet no evidence has ever been presented. Kobakhidze likened these smear tactics to "Goebbels’ propaganda methods," asserting that they aim to create an enemy image and then link political opponents to it, relying on widespread repetition rather than facts. Concluding his statement, he thanked Tulsi Gabbard for unveiling the "deep state" and stated that public awareness of such manipulative methods is crucial. "A society armed with the truth is the main guarantee of the stability of the state," he emphasized.
