
Pashinyan and USAID Administrator Samantha Power Discuss Strengthening Democracy in Armenia

On July 10, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received a delegation led by USAID Administrator Samantha Power.
Prime Minister Pashinyan highly appreciated USAID's programs in Armenia, which were aimed at developing democratic institutions, and noted that the Armenian government would continue its reform efforts.
Samantha Power expressed that the US administration values close cooperation with Armenia and is committed to supporting the Armenian Government's programs in strengthening democracy, development, and resilience.
The discussion covered USAID's ongoing programs in Armenia and explored prospects for new joint initiatives. They highlighted the development of the Armenian Government's reform agenda and institutional capabilities, including strategic communication, and noted plans for further expanding interaction. It was announced that USAID will provide $5 million in new funding to support cooperation between Amazon Web Services and the Government of Armenia to introduce cloud infrastructure and build capacity in the country.
The conversation also addressed the humanitarian issues faced by people displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh and the Armenian Government's efforts to resolve these issues, including a housing provision program. Prime Minister Pashinyan stressed the importance of continued international support and the implementation of agreements reached at the Armenia-EU-US high-level meeting held in Brussels on April 5.
The interlocutors also discussed the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace process and the Armenian Government's "Crossroads of Peace" project.
