Pashinyan Highlights Armenia’s Tech Strategy at EAEU Forum
On June 26, Nikol Pashinyan, the Prime Minister of Armenia, remotely participated in the Eurasian Economic Forum held in Minsk and delivered a speech emphasizing Armenia’s commitment to digital transformation as a central pillar of sustainable development.
In his address, Pashinyan welcomed the forum participants and expressed gratitude to the organizers. He underscored that Armenia views digital development as essential for creating new opportunities in the economy, public administration, and social sectors. Highlighting the country’s achievements, the Prime Minister noted the implementation of an interdepartmental cooperation framework that eliminates data duplication by allowing state bodies to access original information through secure communication channels, thereby enabling integrated and user-friendly digital services.
Pashinyan stated that Armenia was systematically advancing e-government systems, enhancing digital literacy, and developing modern cybersecurity mechanisms. He pointed to NVIDIA’s recent decision to open a research center in Armenia as evidence that smaller nations with ambition and technical capacity can play a significant role in the global technology ecosystem.
The Prime Minister detailed Armenia’s investments in training specialists in machine learning, big data, and cognitive technologies, alongside the establishment of "sandboxes" for testing artificial intelligence solutions. He emphasized the development of a regulatory framework grounded in ethical standards and data protection to build public trust, simplify administrative procedures, and improve the quality of services for both citizens and businesses.
According to Pashinyan, Armenia’s technological platforms would underpin new high-tech industry sectors, with AI and innovative solutions already enabling a shift from traditional management approaches to predictive analysis in areas like public administration, healthcare, education, and social protection.
He also highlighted the importance of Armenia’s participation in the Eurasian Economic Union’s digital agenda, stressing digitalization as a means to dismantle trade barriers and increase transparency. In particular, he emphasized modernizing customs, logistics, and border infrastructure as vital for Armenia, which lacks direct borders with other EAEU member states.
Concluding his remarks, Pashinyan reaffirmed Armenia’s readiness to cooperate on cross-border digital platforms and pilot projects to not only adopt existing technologies but also develop original, effective solutions within the EAEU framework.
