Pashinyan Updates on the Developing Situation in Nagorno-Karabakh

Armenia is ready to provide shelter to more than 40,000 people from Nagorno-Karabakh, according to Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. Speaking at a government meeting, he stressed that this assistance would include not only housing, but also food, health care and other basic necessities.
However, Pashinyan clarified that the evacuation of Armenians from Nagorno-Karabakh is not Plan A. The primary goal is to ensure that the residents of Nagorno-Karabakh can live in their homes without fear, in safety and with dignity. This goal, he noted, has received broad consensus during discussions in the UN Security Council. Pashinyan also mentioned ongoing communication with partners in Nagorno-Karabakh, indicating some optimism for a positive change in the situation. While there is hope for residents to return to their homes, he cautioned that the situation remains dynamic and subject to change.
If the situation does not improve, Pashinyan noted that the transfer of people from Nagorno-Karabakh to Armenia will be considered as an option to ensure their safety and well-being.
Commenting on the prospects for positive developments, Pashinyan said, "The residents of the communities in Nagorno-Karabakh, our compatriots, could get a real chance to return to their homes." However, he stressed that the situation remains dynamic and subject to rapid changes.
Pashinyan also mentioned that certain agreements have been reached on the delivery of larger humanitarian aid shipments to Nagorno-Karabakh on September 22. He expressed hope for the improvement of the humanitarian situation and the possibility of larger humanitarian aid deliveries to Nagorno-Karabakh. However, he also noted that the implementation of these agreements is not guaranteed and could change.
