Ruben Rubinyan: "Armenia Fully Prepared for Normalization with Turkey"

On March 12, Ruben Rubinyan, the Special Envoy for the Normalization of Armenian-Turkish Relations, reaffirmed that Armenia is fully prepared to normalize relations with Turkey, emphasizing that Yerevan’s stance has remained unchanged since the start of the process.
In a report broadcast on Turkish NTV, Rubinyan stated that Armenia seeks a comprehensive resolution of its relations with Turkey, including the establishment of diplomatic ties and the reopening of the land border. He reiterated Armenia’s willingness to normalize relations unconditionally, stressing that the country is ready to open the border and fully settle relations "yesterday, today, and tomorrow." If Turkey demonstrates the political will, the process could move forward quickly, he noted.
Rubinyan pointed out that Armenia is now awaiting Turkey’s actions regarding the border opening. He mentioned that the Margara checkpoint on the Armenian side has been repaired and is ready, and Armenia expects similar steps from Turkey. Additionally, both sides have agreed to repair or reconstruct the border bridge. Rubinyan underscored the significance of a 2022 agreement allowing the border to open for third-country citizens and diplomatic passport holders, describing it as the most important step taken so far.
