
Russia and Iran Finalize Gas Pipeline Route Through Azerbaijan

On January 20, Russia and Iran announced an agreement on a gas pipeline route through Azerbaijan, with negotiations now in their final stage, focusing on supply pricing.
Russian Energy Minister Sergey Tsivilev confirmed that the pipeline’s capacity has been determined, and both nations have established working groups to finalize a pricing compromise.
Russian President Vladimir Putin earlier highlighted the progress of the pipeline project, stating that initial deliveries could reach 2 billion cubic meters, with potential expansion to a capacity of 55 billion cubic meters. This project represents a significant development in energy cooperation between Russia and Iran, further cementing their strategic partnership.
In addition to the pipeline discussions, Putin emphasized ongoing talks with Iran regarding collaboration in the oil sector, signaling broader energy cooperation between the two nations.
