Russia Promises Separatist Tskhinvali Region Assistance in Agriculture

On January 31, Konstantin Dzhussoev, the de-facto Chairman of the Government of the separatist South Ossetia/Tskhinvali Region, met with Dmitry Patrushev, the Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, as part of his working visit to Moscow.
"In 2022, an agreement was signed in Moscow, thanks to which the State Program for the Social and Economic Development of the Republic of South Ossetia for 2022–2025 is being implemented. We hope that the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia will assist in implementing this program in terms of developing the agro-industrial complex of the republic," Dzhussoev said during the meeting.
There was a discussion of issues of state support for small and medium-sized businesses in agriculture and assistance in training qualified personnel in the agro-industrial complex of the de-facto Republic of South Ossetia based on higher educational institutions in the Russian Federation.
The Russian side noted that in two years, the trade turnover of agricultural products and food between Russia and South Ossetia has more than doubled; both exports and imports are growing. Readiness to continue cooperation within the framework of the State Program for the Socio-Economic Development of the Republic of South Ossetia for 2022–2025 and to develop relationships in other areas of the agro-industrial complex was also expressed.
