Russia Pushes for Quick Resolution of Armenia-Belarus Tensions

On July 12, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin stated that Russia is keen to see the current complications between Yerevan and Minsk resolved swiftly.
When asked about Russia's potential involvement in resolving the conflict between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, Galuzin mentioned the difficulty in understanding the firm stance the Armenian authorities took against their Belarusian counterparts. "Alexander Lukashenko has always emphasized Minsk's interest in a stable and secure South Caucasus. Even in the most difficult times, the initiatives of the Belarusian leader were aimed at reconciliation of the warring sides," he stated.
Galuzin highlighted, "Minsk and Yerevan are allies, with whom we are developing multifaceted cooperation. Armenia and Belarus are members of the CIS, CSTO, and EAEU." He added that Moscow is interested in seeing the complications between their friends end as soon as possible. "In any case, we expect that temporary disagreements will not negatively affect the promotion of interaction within the framework of common integration associations. We urge both capitals to look beyond the horizon, to realize the importance of the moment when the contours of new world order are emerging, in the construction of which we would like to see not only Minsk but also Yerevan," the Deputy Minister concluded.
