Russia Tries to Get Personal Data from Ingushetian Websites

"Meduza," a Russian opposition media, reported that the FSB [Russian Federal Security Service] turned to Roskomnadzor [Russian Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media] with a proposal to add nine Ingush sites to the register of "information dissemination organizers." If the request is granted, these sites will be required to store the complete data of their users' electronic messages in Russia and provide them with special services, for which they will have to install special equipment.
According to the publication, Roskomnadzor intends to add the popular service for selling air tickets, Aviasales, to the register. The material includes scans of FSB letters to Roskomnadzor dated June and October 2022, where, in addition to Aviasales, nine Ingush websites are listed.
These are the governmental newspaper Ingushetia (gazetaingush.ru), the information portal The Magas Times (magastimes.ru), the website magas.ru, which, among other things, publishes messages sent by readers via SMS, the website of the Tesham Charitable Foundation (fondtesham.ru), the infotainment website ingush-empire.com, the private announcement websites berkat.ru and hoam.ru and the website of the Malgobek district's newspaper "Narodnoye Slovo" (narod-slovomr.ru).
