Russian Ambassador: No Alternative to Russian-Armenian Alliance for Regional Stability

Russia remains dedicated to fulfilling its security obligations to Armenia, both on a bilateral basis and through the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), according to Sergey Kopyrkin, Russia’s Ambassador to Armenia.
In an interview with the Russian newspaper Izvestia, Kopyrkin addressed questions regarding Armenia’s decision to freeze its CSTO membership and its impact on bilateral relations with Moscow. “When it comes to ensuring Armenia’s security, we firmly believe there are no comparable real alternatives to the Russian-Armenian allied cooperation, including within the CSTO framework,” Kopyrkin stated.
He emphasized Russia’s commitment to ensuring Armenia’s security through both bilateral efforts and CSTO mechanisms. The ambassador also expressed Moscow’s expectations for Armenia’s active participation in building a comprehensive and balanced security system across the Eurasian continent.
“This concept was first introduced by President Vladimir Putin during a meeting with the Russian foreign ministry leadership on June 14 and reiterated during the BRICS summit in Kazan,” Kopyrkin noted.
