Russian FM Blames US, Allies for Disrupting Armenia-Azerbaijan Negotiations

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov accused the US and its allies of attempting to obstruct the implementation of agreements between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Lavrov made these remarks during a press conference following the Council of Foreign Ministers meeting of the CIS countries in Minsk, Belarus.
“They are attempting to invade all regions of the post-Soviet territory, disrupt the process of stabilizing the situation in the South Caucasus, and want to prevent the implementation of the agreements reached between Armenia and Azerbaijan, with the assistance of Russia,” noted the Russian FM.
Lavrov stated that Russia’s strategic allies face significant pressure but continue to uphold the shared values and principles of integration organizations like the EAEU, CIS, and CSTO. Additionally, he expressed confidence that the Western approach is strategically destined to fail.
Delegations from nine countries attended the Council of Foreign Ministers meeting of the CIS countries. Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan opted not to attend the meeting. Instead, Armenia and Turkmenistan were represented by deputy ministers.
