Russian Intelligence Chief: Too Early to Discuss US Bases in Armenia

On June 17, Sergey Naryshkin, the Director of Russia's Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR), stated that it is too early to speculate on the possibility of US military bases in Armenia.
"It is too early to talk about it," Naryshkin said when asked about the potential appearance of US military bases in the Transcaucasian republic due to changes in Yerevan's policy.
Notably, the final joint statement from the Armenia-US strategic dialogue session held in Yerevan on June 11 indicated that both sides would strengthen cooperation in the security sphere and aim to elevate their relationship to the level of strategic partnership. On May 22, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken mentioned that Washington is considering a "series of requests" from Armenia to determine what steps can be taken to enhance support for Yerevan.

Grigoryan emphasized that they also addressed other issues during the meeting but did not specify which ones.
