Russian Power Company to Triple Funds for Energy Supply of Dagestan

In 2023, Russian power company "Rosseti" will triple the number of funds allocated for the modernization and development of power grids in Dagestan. This and other measures aimed at ensuring an uninterrupted power supply to the people of Dagestan were discussed on January 31 at a meeting of Sergey Melikov, the head of Dagestan, and Andrey Ryumin, the general director of PJSC Rosseti.
"It was noted that electricity consumption in Dagestan is growing: the load of the energy system this winter has exceeded 1.5 GW, which is a record value. Depreciation of network equipment is a problem that has arisen as a result of many years of underfunding of investment and repair programs. All this, against the background of worsening weather conditions in early January, caused significant power supply disruptions," the administration of the head of Dagestan said.
At the same time, the Rosseti group developed a program to modernize and improve the reliability of the power grid complex in Dagestan, aimed at cardinally changing the situation.
"Until 2025, it is planned to reconstruct 66 substations and 35–110 kV transmission lines. A program to modernize and improve the reliability of the power supply in the city of Makhachkala worth more than 4.2 billion rubles [EUR 55 million] is being worked out. Measures are planned to connect new consumers to the networks, including new treatment facilities in Derbent. Work will be carried out in the main networks: modernization of the ice melting system at the 330 kV Makhachkala substation and replacement of switching equipment at the 330 kV Chiryurt substation. About a third of the identified ownerless objects, court decisions have already been received on recognizing the ownership rights of PJSC Rosseti North Caucasus," the information stated.
