Saakashvili Vows to Challenge Oligarchs in Georgian Elections

On February 1, Mikheil Saakashvili, the imprisoned third president of Georgia, declared his commitment to liberate Georgia from the grip of oligarchs in the upcoming elections. He criticized the current ruling elite, led by Bidzina Ivanishvili, the former Prime Minister of Georgia, accusing them of being disconnected from reality and perpetuating corruption and nepotism.
Saakashvili highlighted the deteriorating economic conditions faced by Georgians despite the doubling of Ivanishvili's fortune. He lamented the lack of improvement in people's lives and attributed it to the pervasive corruption and influence-peddling within the government.
Expressing his determination to bring about change, Saakashvili outlined his campaign strategy, dismissing the oligarchs' tactics. He argued that promises made by the ruling party have been consistently broken, diminishing their credibility. Additionally, he noted that the fear-mongering tactics of invoking the National Movement and the prospect of war no longer resonate with the Georgian people.
Saakashvili positioned himself as the champion against corruption, emphasizing his readiness to confront the entrenched graft system. He asserted that the oligarchs' arsenal of lies and injustice is now turned against them as the people increasingly reject their narrative.
Despite anticipating a tough battle, Saakashvili expressed confidence in his ability to secure victory. He pledged unwavering dedication to the cause of saving the Georgian people and promised to carve out his place in the struggle for change.
